David
Castañeda
luthier and director of Castañeda Music Imports
was born in Peru on March, 23rd 1972 in a Spaniard heritage
family. In 1975 his father, the musician, Gustavo
Castañeda de la Torre
brings him back to Spain at the early age of three, where
the whole family will stay
and later open a musical store.
In 1990
and after years of work as a saxophonist in different
groups and bands Gustavo Castañeda decides to open
a store in Madrid specialised in the importation of all
kinds of accessories and repair pieces and tools.
By the time, after graduating from school,
and enhanced by his father David Castañeda decides
to start his studies as a musical instrument repair
technician. For over two years he is instructed and
taught by the well- known technician Mr.
Manuel Parra.
The classes took place at the Yamaha- Japan ateliers
with the collaboration of the municipal City Hall of
Madrid. At the end of his preparation he becomes one
of the few officially certified Spanish luthieres.
After getting his diploma and in order to perfect his
skills and technique he works several months for specialised
musical ateliers in Paris. After
this practising period he comes back to Spain to take
care of his own atelier at his family store Castañeda
Music Imports in Madrid.
From that moment on the company offers a much better
guarantee for the maintenance and selling of all kinds
of wind instruments as well.
